Connor Arrigan

Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering

National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellow

Connor is a PhD Candidate in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NAME) at the University of Michigan. He earned his B.S.E. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Michigan in 2022. He earned his M.S.E. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan in 2023. He also earned a M.S.E. in Industrial and Operations Engineering and Graduate Certificate in the study of Complex Systems from the University of Michigan in 2024. He is working with Prof. David Singer of the NAME department. His research interests revolve around the early stage design of Naval vessels and analyzing design optimization tools through the use of statistical physics, metaphysics, and logic theory.

Matthew Dowling

Computer Science and Engineering

Matthew is a Junior in computer science on track to get a B.S.E. in computer science by 2026, along with a Mathematics minor. Apart from the computer science and ship design work he has done for the lab, he has spent 3 internships with Michigan Tech Research Institute working on statistical decision and estimation problems and their implementations in Matlab. He wants to ultimately get into the cybersecurity space and get a Ph.D. either in math or computer science that focuses on cryptography. 

Alex Manohar, PhD

Alex recently received his PhD in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NAME) at the University of Michigan in 2023. He earned his B.S.E. in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Michigan in 2020. He also earned his M.S.E. in Robotics from the University of Michigan in 2022. He is working with Prof. David Singer of the NAME department. His research interests revolve around the design of Self-Adaptive Health Monitoring systems in crewless vessels.
